Blue Whales: Return of the Giants – Event Version

While the feature-length version of Blue Whales: Return of the Giants is continuing to make a splash in Giant Screen theaters, these locations may be inaccessible for many interested communities. This shortened version of the film has been made available to screen at community outreach and educational events, like the dozens planned at public libraries nationwide in the summer and fall of 2023.

The film takes viewers on a journey of a lifetime to explore the world of the magnificent blue whale, a species rebounding from its near extinction. Meet the marine biologists chronicling the return of whale families in Mexico’s stunning Gulf of California—if the species shows evidence of recovering numbers, they hope to see the evidence in the health of the whales that use the Gulf to feed and breed, season after season.

From its almost incomprehensible size to its spectacular feeding habits; from the surprising role it plays in the health of our oceans to its awesome long-distance communications, the film provides an unforgettable window into the lives these animals live.
